What are heirloom vegetables?
Heirlooms are seed varieties that are at least 50 years old, and you can save these seeds and plant them year after year. Heirlooms are never hybrids or GMOs.
The difference between heirloom and organic? Organic seeds are grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides and synthetic fertilizers.
What’s being planted in the garden this year?
This year I’ll be planting pumpkins, melons, beans, several varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, potatoes, sugar snap peas, beets, lettuce, onions, herbs, and radish. I will also be starting a flower cutting garden with zinnias, cosmos, bachelor buttons, sunflowers, Queen Anne’s lace, and many other types of flowers. Follow me on Facebook (Red Gate Farm) for the most up to date information.
